Name

Gone below the surface

After a tree comes down, the stump does not have to stay. We grind it several inches below grade so it is out of sight and out of the way, leaving a clean spot to fill, sod, or plant.

Grinding is faster and far less disruptive than digging a stump out by the roots, and it does not tear up your whole yard in the process.

My first quote from a local company was $1900.00 to basically just trim my trees. Loyalty trimmed same trees and pulled about 15 large bushes I wanted gone for $1250.00. Michael even stayed till nearly midnight fixing a pipe that had roots wrapped around it. Good small business I would definitely recommend!!

Well… our well ran dry. 😳 As in, “turn on the faucet and absolutely nothing happens” dry. 😂 No water, no warning, and apparently Mother Nature decided we needed a new adventure. We had very limited options for where we could put a new well, and naturally, the ONE spot that would work had trees in the way. Because why would anything about this process be easy? 😂 We were already stressed, frustrated, and trying to figure out how in the world we were going to make all of this happen. Let’s be real—nobody has a spare pile of money sitting around waiting for their well to quit working. Especially these days! So we started asking some friends out here in the country who they would recommend for tree work. They told us about Mike with Loyal Tree. Y’all… within HOURS, Mike showed up. A friend of his called and told him that he had friends without water who needed some trees removed, and Mike dropped what he was doing and came to help. Now THAT is the kind of thing you don’t forget. Mike was kind, caring, compassionate, and just genuinely wanted to help us. He didn’t treat us like just another job or another paycheck. He saw that we were in a bind and showed up. And honestly, when you’re already stressed enough to cry, sometimes all you can do is laugh. 😂 Because stressing, crying, and staring at the empty faucet aren’t going to magically make the water come back! God definitely put the right people in our path at the right time. There aren’t a lot of businesses left where you feel like you’re dealing with good old-fashioned folks who actually care about helping people instead of just making a buck. Mike reminded us that those people are still out there. Once we get this whole well situation figured out and everything is put back together, Loyal Tree will absolutely be getting another call from us. Mike has earned our business, our gratitude, and a whole lot of appreciation from our family. If you need tree work done, give Loyal Tree a call. Good people, good work, and the kind of service that reminds you there are still folks out there who will stop what they’re doing to lend a hand. ❤️🌳 Thank you, Mike, for helping us out when we were really in a bind. We appreciate you more than you know! Now… if anybody knows how to convince our well to start cooperating, we’re taking suggestions. 😂💧🙏

We could not be more impressed with this tree company! From start to finish, they were an absolute pleasure to work with. Communication was excellent, they arrived right on time, and they delivered exactly what we asked for. They even went above and beyond by removing and cleaning up some old, large stumps we had. As a bird enthusiast, I was especially touched by the care and respect they showed around the large natural nesting area on our property. They took the extra time and had incredible patience while carefully working around the nests and eggs, making sure the birds and their habitat remained safe and undisturbed. This was incredibly meaningful to me, and I cannot express how appreciative I am of their thoughtfulness and compassion. The area was extremely difficult to access, but they handled everything with incredible skill and professionalism. They left the property clean and tidy, and the results exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend them!

Frequently asked questions

How deep do you grind the stump?

Typically six to ten inches below grade, which is enough to plant grass over and get a mower across without hitting anything. If you are planning to put a new tree, a fence post or anything with footings in the same spot, tell us and we will go deeper. Say what the ground is going to be used for and we will grind to suit.

Do you grind the surface roots too?

Yes, the ones running out from the stump that would otherwise be left humping up through your lawn. There is a practical limit though. Roots run a long way out from a mature tree and chasing every one of them across the yard costs more than it is worth, so we take out what actually causes problems.

Do you do stump grinding on its own, or only with a removal?

We do it as part of a removal, which is where it makes sense for everyone. As a standalone job it is often an hour’s drive each way to grind one stump, and the trip is most of the cost. If you have several stumps together, or one we can pick up alongside other work in your area, call and ask. Straight answer either way.

What happens to all the grindings?

Your choice. Most people have us backfill the hole with the chips and take the surplus away, which settles over a few months. If you want the chips gone entirely and clean soil in the hole, we can do that too, and it costs a little more. If you want the whole pile left for mulch, say so.

Can I plant grass or a new tree where the stump was?

Grass, yes, once the hole is backfilled and topped with soil, though expect it to settle and need topping up. A new tree in exactly the same spot is harder, because the ground is full of decomposing wood chips that tie up nitrogen as they break down. Better to grind deep, dig the chips out and bring in soil, or plant a few feet to one side.

Will grinding damage my irrigation or utilities?

It can, which is why we ask before we start. Mark any sprinkler lines, low-voltage lighting, invisible fence or septic lines near the stump and we will work around them. For anything buried and unmarked, call 811 first. A grinder does not know what it is hitting until it has hit it.

How long does a stump take?

Most residential stumps are done inside an hour once the machine is in position. The bigger variable is access, because getting a grinder through a narrow gate or around a house takes longer than the grinding itself. Large multi-stem stumps and old hardwood butts can take considerably longer.
